It's not about fighting, it's about trading. But sometimes, it does the soul good just to have a blast! Tonight (Sunday August 13) at 7.00pm you can show off your fighting prowess and display the might of your powerful twin lasers in a fighting championship in Arena Space. If you've never fired a mag gun or a laser, come along and pick up some tips from the masters and mistresses of space warfare; if you think you've got what it takes to show the old hands a thing or two, issue a challenge and show us what you're made of! **>> LEARN ABOUT EXPLORING AND MAPPING One of the requirements of playing a text game like Fed is to be able to make a map of the locations and understand how they link together. Exploring the planets of the Solar System, with all its caves, tunnels, mazes and secret locations, is a necessity for advancing. And the out of Sol planets, which have been designed by players, often yield high rewards to those who can explore and solve the puzzles. Without this knowledge, you'll find it tough when you come to design your own planet. So come to our next Fed Training School, which is all about Mapping and Mazes. You'll learn all you need to know about exploring and making sure you don't miss anything important. The Mapping school is at 7.00pm eastern on Sunday August 20th. Assemble in Chez Diesel for the start of the school, then follow our experts around as they teach you all you need to know. **>> CHARITY DONATIONS REQUIRED Blargg wants to start a charity, Indel Inc. Community Charity, to help some of the puny people in Fed DataSpace (specifically, him!). He plans to collect money which will be distributed to Poor People that have a hard time earning a living (like he does). By donating just 21 groats a month, you can help save Blargg, a small puny businessman, once picked on by so many. Your money can help save many needy people, like Blargg. Please donate now. Send your groats to Blargg. **>> SEEN ON THE BAR BOARD... The following message was seen on the bar board recently: Chance: Now hiring Mercenaries for an intrusion and extraction mission. Sounds to us like Chance is taking up Intergalactic Dentistry! **>> THE WEDDING OF THE CENTURY! Well it would be, if it were true. But it's probably just a rumour, or wishful thinking on the part of the groom... still, our newsdroid was told that Oxcart and Aja have been, or are going to, get married! If this IS true, it will be a truly momentous occasion, since Ox has been trying to find someone who will put up with hygiene problem, and doesn't mind that he has to use a hydraulic prosthesis, and thinks nothing of the silly little problem with the bicycle pump, for years! But it's probably not true anyway. **>> GOSSIP AND LIES Apollo was sneaking a hug with Goddess on the Hermitage LP and didn't notice Pyke was standing right there. Apollo wouldn't say anything else, Goddess scowled at him to shut up... and Apollo was wiping sweat from his brow as he related this to our newsdroid. Such angst from a HUG? Thank goodness he hadn't been spotted groping her! The big excitement of the week was: Find the Fedders at GenCon. Chicago and another player decided to get in their car, drive to GenCon and were convinced they'd find Fedders to crash with. Not so easy. Emmi and Freya were in CDs listing names of Fedders they knew were there, and Emmi was phoning hotels asking if they were registered, while she had Chicago on the other phone! No luck finding ANY of the players who were supposed to be there... no hotel seems to have them registered. Have they all been abducted by aliens? Or are they all using assumed names? Page and Cicero are still togther... unusual for a Fed Couple. They claim their secret is... they seldom see each other. **>> FAULTY DROID When news reached the H-by-A office a few days ago that Baron Windman had gone d-d, we dispatched a newsdroid to investigate. We found to our horror that last week's newsdroid had been lazy and had not carefully investigated the death of the Lady Helena. That newsdroid has been sacked (in fact, it has been dismantled and the pieces put into a sack). It seems that far from pining over the neglectful Bgg, Helena had turned to the sexy Baron Windman and spent many hours entertaining her new love at the cabin on Troy. Bgg, returning from a business trip, teleported in, expecting to find his love meekly waiting for him. Instead he discovered her locked in a passionate embrace with Windman. In a fit of black rage he murdered the fickle Helena. Bgg then turned to attack Windman and a long duel ensued. Windman managed to wound Bgg severely and left him for dead, after he'd removed, in a burst of anger, Bgg's private parts! He then flew off to nurse his wounds and found that life was no longer living without the beautiful Helena. He committed suicide two days later. Although we understand the intense emotion involved in this case, crimes passionels are not to be tolerated in Fed. A warrant is out for the arrest of Bgg and he must stand trial for murder. **>> SPYNET REVIEW This week saw the deaths of Baron Windman, JPs Hannah and Anais, and Merchant Allanon. RIP!
