Guybrush says, "We're really here to make random comments and talk between ourselves"

Cyto says, "Pretty much."

Chiefsgirl smiles

"I'm just here in case he makes a fool of himself.", says Elretardo with a wink.

"Err...nevermind", says Elretardo.

Chiefsgirl stands up and clears her throat

Chiefsgirl says, "Good evening and welcome to the Meet & Greet"

Cyto smiles.

"Tonight our guest is Duke Cyto, one of the first to solve the reinstated Duke Puzzle.", says Chiefsgirl.

"Feel free to ask questions or make comments throughout the evening, but please give Cyto a chance to respond", says Chiefsgirl.

Chiefsgirl smiles and sits on her barstool, holding up an applause sign for Cyto

"Err...", says Cyto.

"Ahem.", says Cyto.

"An introductory speech for the record books", says Guybrush.

Elretardo drops a pin.

Ron asks, "so how do you like being a Duke Cyto?"

Cyto says, "Well, I appeared in this universe about three and a half years ago... An awful lot happened since then... Umm. I don't like hecklers."

Cyto says, "And I don't organize my thoughts well."

Chiefsgirl smiles

"There. That's my introduction.", says Cyto.

"Perhaps you would just like to tell a first person account of the whole puzzle? That would take up the hour quite nicely.", smiles Elretardo.

Elretardo laughs. "Good enough. :)"

Ron asks, "did you have help on the way up the ranks?"

"Well, yes I did. I kept to myself, but still managed to meet an awful lot of famous people along the way...", says Cyto.

"was the snark puz required to advance to PO ?", asks Ron.

"Hmm. So, could you explain the game as it was back when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth?", asks Guybrush.

"What famous people did you meet?", asks Chiefsgirl.

Cyto says, "Venllbarmy, Duke of Freedom financed most of my way through Trader and Merchant after I solved his puzzle."

Elretardo says, "Oh yes...the one with land mines and stuff...that puzzle was fun."

Elretardo says, "That was nice of him."

"Lucas, Duke of Riva was a mentor of sorts. He and something-or-otherMousE helped me when I first got my planet...", says Cyto.

Ron remembers a lot of otherMousE's a while back

"Going back a few steps, MyNewDay and LEpocket sold me my first factories.", says Cyto.

"HaulinMousE, I think...that right?", asks Elretardo.

Guybrush says, "Oz. Golly, I think that planet has a puzzle on it"

Guybrush asks, "Had you ever solved it?"

Elretardo says, "Skittles person."

Derekj smiles, "that was her main character, Retardo."

"One of many, actually.", says Cyto.

"Gee. Oz. Yeah, I think that was on the list :P", says Cyto.

"or at least the one I saw the most", says Derekj with a wink.

"That's how I made most of my money, anyway. Solving puzzles. Then once I got to the lofty rank of Squire, I spent about 8 months just sitting around slowly making money.", says Cyto.

"The length of time being something a certain Canadian frog who couldn't be here tonight never fails to remind me.", says Cyto.

Ron asks, "did you just have to max your stats to make Squire back then?"

"No, I solved Snark just like everybody else. And I had to haul through 6 feet of snow, uphill, both ways, too.", says Cyto.

Chiefsgirl laughs

Ron asks, "do you think the snark should be brought back?"

"to advance to Squire?", asks Ron.

"darn right", says Zeusgod.

"oops, that my opinion", says Zeusgod.

Cyto says, "Most definitely. I think far too many people think the only goal in life is to get to the highest rank possible as fast as possible without actually learning any of the dynamics of the game."

Ron says, "mine too btw Zeusgod."

Cyto says, "Puzzling is one of the most important and most interesting aspects of it."

Elretardo cheers.

Chiefsgirl nods

Ron says, "I found doing the snard was a great way to meet new friends by helping."

"oops Snark", smiles Ron.

Cyto says, "Most definitely. Those sorts of friendships are what hold Federation together."

"What do you think about this sudden influx of duchies?", asks Chiefsgirl.

"Well. I don't know if there are many polite words for this...", says Cyto.

Guybrush asks, "Yeah. How was it to be the second to solve the Duke puzzle?"

Ron agrees with Cyto

"Err, just kidding", says Cyto with a wink.

"What's that? Second?", asks Cyto.

Chiefsgirl says, "No need to be polite or politically correct"

Cyto says, "Oh yes. I *was* the second to solve the puzzle. Right after JopeJope."

Cyto grins.

Guybrush winks and says, "Yes. As I recall, JopeJope beat you by a while"

Chiefsgirl says, "This is your chance to express yourself"

Elretardo says, "2 weeks."

Zeusgod agrees with Cyto and Ron

"Yes, but that's not the point. :P", says Cyto.

"Sure it is...there's a big difference between 1st and 2nd.", says Elretardo.

Ron says, "Hell, I was twelth and it doesn't matter to me"

Chiefsgirl wonders what the point is

Cyto winks and says, "The point is, Almandot managed to make no mention of the fact that he solved it *after* I did."

"But back to the question at hand.", says Cyto.

"oh", says Chiefsgirl.

"But you two were working together?", asks Guybrush.

Derekj asks, "Where do you see Fed going, Cyto? and what can we do to help it go in the correct direction?"

Cyto says, "Most of us saw this coming long before the duke puzzle came back, but there are now too many duchies and not enough non-duchy planets."

Chiefsgirl asks, "You see any solutions to that problem, Cyto?"

Onyxgod winks and says, "Yes, do you regret handing the puzzle solution to Tbar?"

Guybrush has slapped Onyxgod in the face!

"Ahh. I've heard this rumour floating around.", says Cyto.

Guybrush winks and says, "Sorry, some people deserve it"

"uh oh", says Zeusgod.

Elretardo boggles.

Chiefsgirl says, "Guy, please try to control yourself"

Cyto says, "Careful there. I don't want to get a bad rep here... :P"

"Hey.. at least you can feel an emotion: anger", smiles Onyxgod.

Derekj chuckles.

"Anyway, all of my solutions to the problem would probably be rather unpopular.", says Cyto.

Derekj smiles, "try us."

Chiefsgirl says, "Well, tell us some of your ideas"

"Well, I for one would like to see Sol redesigned, the puzzles and rank requirements changed and all the players wiped.", says Cyto.

Cyto shrugs.

"a new game in a sense?", asks Shubisha.

Zeusgod asks, "Wiped?"

"rather drastic don't you think?", asks Ron.

Derekj asks, "all at once???"

Cyto says, "Not remotely."

"Sol redesigned how?", asks Chiefsgirl.

"Sol completely unrecognizably altered.", says Cyto.

Cyto says, "The idea being to completely recreate fed from the very beginning."

"just another new planet with different locations", says Ron.

Cyto says, "With more of an emphasis on puzzles."

Onyxgod winks and says, "sounds easy. Have Cryto type "erase" on the player database"

"yeah, as long as you solve the puzzle first Cyto, I am always eager to get more solutions", says Onyxgod with a wink.

"Any puzzles would have to be redesigned so as to work for a larger audience.", says Cyto.

Shubisha says, "How many people do you think would actually pay to go through that Cyto? (people, not personas that include alts)"

"And I'm the one being warned to control my behavior?", says Guybrush with a wink.

Cyto says, "Rather than just having puzzles that people get in object lines to solve."

Chiefsgirl asks, "Cyto, would you like to address what OG is saying?"

Elretardo mumbles something about Onyxgod.

Zeusgod says, "not doable... too many in Duckies... sol is a lost entity"

Cyto says, "And regarding giving the solution to Tbar, I can speak for myself and Jaime. We didn't let the solution leak."

"err Duchies", says Zeusgod.

"sol is only lost till they make the Snark puzzle a requirement again.", says Ron.

Elretardo says, "Err..I can back that up."

Elretardo says, "Wasn't them."

Cyto says, "And I'm reasonably sure that Almandot didn't either."

Derekj says, "I doubt is was Jope..."

Onyxgod winks and says, "well CG is my lawyer if you guys didn't know"

"I politely decline the defense, however", smiles Cyto.

"We ardently strived to keep the solution to ourselves. And I believe we managed that.", says Cyto.

Cyto says, "But unfortunately at least one other group solved it shortly thereafter, and they weren't as keen on keeping it quiet."

Shubisha says, "Yes. The idea of I'm just telling the people who did it with me, but then those people will only tell people they brought with them,etc...etc..etc... with more and more people being brought. I saw that happening."

"Tell us about your duchy, Cyto. I see you only have 2 planets so far in residence", says Chiefsgirl.

"Yes, I haven't been recruiting at the moment.", says Cyto.

Cyto says, "Right now, I'm working on designing Tennica itself."

"Do you have certain requirements in your POs?", asks Chiefsgirl.

"The first draft was wiped out after I DDed a few months ago.", says Cyto.

"and what are the planet types you want Cyto?", asks Zeusgod.

"Rather than reinstate it, I decided to completely redesign it.", says Cyto.

"It will be in shortly.", says Cyto.

Chiefsgirl nods

"After the new Tennica is completed, which duchies do you plan to prolestize in?", asks Derekj.

"I will then be looking for interestingly designed planets. Some with puzzles, but it won't be a requirement.", says Cyto.

"I don't believe I've ever proselytized.", says Cyto.

"Could you clarify the question?", asks Cyto.

Ron pauses with the rest to get the dictonary

Ron laughs

Derekj says, "thanx for the spelling correction... I didn't think I got it right..."

Cyto says, "Proselytized is a rather sophisticated way of saying 'preach'"

Derekj says, "...it basically means to steal members from another group... usually it applies to religions.."

Ron grins

"I'd think there'd have to be non-Duchy planets for him to steal any...", says Guybrush with a wink.

Derekj says, "...the only other time I've seen it used was in the context of stealing away duchy members for someone else's duchy in Fed. :)3"

Cyto says, "There are still plenty of planets out there to recruit..."

Onyxgod smiles, "Why can't we just lie cheat and steal like Bill CLinton, that will really save the game"

Petvetken laughs.

Elretardo says, "Sure, why not...send the game to hell..."

Derekj grins.

Cyto says, "Err, that was a rather bizarre non sequitur."

Petvetken says, "After that, why don't we invite all our snerty friends..."

Petvetken exclaims, "Then we could have some fun, and a big barbecue!"

"but, how long have you been on Fed, and what kinda big changes have you notice over the years?", asks Petvetken.

Cyto says, "Well, I've been in Fed for about 3 and a half years. I came in shortly after it went to open beta, stopped playing for a few months, and then came back and I'd been playing rather actively until recently."

Montag says, "I have one. <wg>"

"Anyway...", says Cyto.

"sounds like me, but I stopped playing for a few years, and majorly, what kind of differences, has da Crypto been in a better mood?", asks Petvetken.

Petvetken shudders, and hides.

Montag asks, "Which open beta period?"

Montag says, "There're several"

"Err, the open beta period on AOL.", says Cyto.

Cyto says, "When they started advertising it on the front welcome page."

"And now for a light-hearted question, your name...... Cyto. Where'd it come from, what's it mean?", asks Montag.

"oooh", says Petvetken.

"Well, when I first tried out AOL on my brand new 14,400 bps modem after many years of BBSing, I found my favorite handle was taken, so I had to come up with a new one.", says Cyto.

"For absolutely no reason, I settled on CytoPlasma. And that was shortened to Cyto after the move.", says Cyto.

"It refers to, I believe, the fluid that cells are composed of.", says Cyto.

"and are you humanoid, or more gelatinous in nature?", asks Montag.

Cyto says, "But I'm not sure if you are the same OnyxGod of lives past."

Montag says, "I have a personal problem with someone who waits to set the record straight ~after~ the interview is over"

"but then again, your cunning on using Phiddie's porter trips to further your research of the duke puzzle and my defending you on several occasions should convince you for the time being", smiles Onyxgod.

Guybrush says, "How appropriate. You fight like a cow"

Cyto says, "Well I tried to set the record straight during the interview."

Chiefsgirl grins cause the cameras are still rolling

"I just wanted to see if I could be more convincing after the cameras were off.", says Cyto.

"Err. Something like that", says Cyto with a wink.

Montag nods, "Fair enough"

Cyto says, "Well, I'm referring to the so-called dumping wars. I thought it was a very effective method of stirring up excitement in the game and keeping people interested in playing."

"It's still crooked Cyto", smiles Onyxgod.

"What's crooked again?", asks Cyto.

"Wait...what are you talking about, OG?", asks Guybrush.

"setting the record straight :) there's always 3 sides to the truth .. the trick is to realize that the record will always be crooked, no matter how hard you try to set it straight.", says Onyxgod.

Elretardo says, "Well, I suppose we can beat on OG as much as we want now that the event's over..."

Cyto says, "Ahh. I see. Well, I suppose there is little I can do about these accusations."

Cyto says, "I can't deny them apparently. Damned if I do, damned if I don't."

Onyxgod says, "like the dumping wars, no matter how I try to set the record straight on the fact that dumping is nothing but a myth.. people will always still believe it's a reality.. damaging their exchanges... dampering the overall markets.. It's a lost caus"

Cyto says, "Oh yeah... I never understood how that worked."

Singapore winks and says, "Nah. Spies like three sided arguments."

"I had a terribly balanced exchange, but dumping could never do any damage to it.", says Cyto.

Elretardo says, "Well, OG, that was true...I happened to get a copy of that program you guys used for my duke..it was very..interesting."

"But it managed to get enough people excited that put a little spice back into fed.", says Cyto.

"People united against what they perceived as a common threat, and that was better for Fed overall.", says Cyto.

Cyto says, "I think I said something to that effect in my interview with Bizcarp..."

Guybrush says, "You did"

"a common threat that wasn't even a threat in the first place... It's a Catch 22 Era, that's what I call it", smiles Onyxgod.

Montag asks, "Who ever reads those captures of Bizcarps anyways?"

"A *perceived* threat as I said.", says Cyto.

Cyto says, "Are the cameras off yet? :P"

Onyxgod says, "yeah but that's real attempt Hof.. different from inherent attempt... it's like Mark McGwire TRYING to hit 100 homeruns until he stopped trying and ended up hitting 70... it's a weird karma"

"Well, I was hoping this would become more of an argument or something so I could actually defend myself against the accusations...", says Cyto.

"What were accusations?", asks Hof.

"Yes..it's a moot point anyways, the damage is done.. people tend to go backwards.. .instead of forward to do something about the status quo", smiles Onyxgod.

Cyto says, "Apparently I gave the solution to the Duke puzzle to Tbar who then distributed it to everyone else."

Singapore feels cheated since he doesn't have the solution...

Montag asks, "Dont ya think it's an amazing coincidence that the flood of people "solving" the puzzle came immediately after you and Al?"

Cyto says, "Well, I'm working on finishing the design to my planet before I start working for a new and better fed."

"What about that you're in fact Almandot, Cyto?", asks Shubisha.

Montag asks, "With the first one after you two to be Hof, wasn't it?"

Montag says, "Hof is a good friend of Al"

Cyto says, "I'm not Almandot."

Cyto says, "I barely know Almandot."

Cyto says, "Almandot happened to be working with my good friend Jaime on the puzzle."

Hof exclaims, "I wouldn't know what ya did Cyto ! I did warp with Al about 10 times or more ! I sorry to see that everyone who did it THINKS they did it alone anyway !!"

Singapore winks and says, "That's not what he said."

Onyxgod exclaims, "ALRIGHT, I confessed. I did it. I passed the solution to EVERYBODY!!!"

"I'm not going to slander Almandot, but I don't know for a fact that he didn't give it out.", says Cyto.

"Now shut up and think about your instable markets", says Onyxgod with a wink.

"OK, so on one hand, you say you know al would never give out the solution, yet, on the other, you barely know him.", says Montag.

Singapore wags a finger at OG. "Dammit, you left me off your mailing list."

"No, I never said that I know Al would never give it out.", says Cyto.

"I said Jaime and I didn't and that I was reasonably sure that Almandot didn't.", says Cyto.

Zeusgod gets bored with this rhetoric

"I just wanted to see if Cyto would break a sweat under fire.. which he didn't", smiles Onyxgod.

Hof exclaims, "Name ONE person who did it alone !!!!! WHO cares !!!!!!"
