CHEZ GUEVARRA ON SUMATRA

Reviewed by Kalandra

Normally I avoid Sumatra at all costs. Not because of the delays that walking through airlocks cause, or the burly droid that chastises me because I try to leave the known pathways... (as if no one ever explored before). It's not even the constant taunting of seeing coffee bulbs laying all over the place only to have them taken away as I try to leave. The constant security scans have me wondering if someone is trying to get a peek at my undies. But in the interests of doing a good restaurant review, I made my way to Chez Guevarra ignoring the knowing look the burly droid gave me and made my way to the South Dome for a meal.

My recollection of Chez Guevarra from my days of Adventurer and Magellan questing had left me with a memory of a very shady character so it was with some trepidation that I decided to visit.  As I walked in, I was accosted by the sound of a band playing a cover of "Don't Fear the Reaper". I'm not much of a music critic but off hand I would say they needed more cowbell to really pull it off. I found a table and ordered my food. What a pleasant surprise to find a place that knows how to serve a plate of southern style barbeque! I was so taken with it that I decided to have a second helping.

But, any place can have a lively atmosphere and good food, we all know that the true measure of a restaurant is the restroom facilities. So, on my way out, before the long spaceship ride home I stopped by the toilets to check them out. I expected to find a typical set up, for a bar with sticky floor and dirty mirrors, but again - despite the fact that there was only one room - I was happy to see that Chez Guevarra had exceeded my expectations yet again. The room was spotless and all the facilities worked beautifully.

As I left Chez Guevarra I realized that I had seriously misjudged the place over the years and made a mental note to stop in next time I was in that corner of Sol, after all, who wants to use the loo on earth?
