CRYPTOGRAMS

Saturday December 17
by Catspaws

The players decided to give the kitty a heart attack this week, as most of them were LATE! Tsk, tsk, no fair! Cryptograms first, life second!

We gathered in the Breakfast in Fur restaurant on The Lattice for the third official game of Cryptograms. Gathered were Phedre, Ronin, Fancy and Caesar as players, with Ferreri watching on channel. We started the first list, "Types of Spaceships". and Fancy quickly figured it out, followed shortly by Phedre and finally Ronin.

The second puzzle was "Favorite Fed Events", a list Fancy probably didn't even have to think about. Of course, he was first again, with Phedre second and Ronin again finishing third.

The third list was a fun one, "Ways to Cook a Mouse." (Take that, Squeeky!) This funny list proved harder, and I teasingly gave out the letter Z=A. The list was: Parbroil him, Bake him with a mustard and honey glaze, Fry him in garlic butter, Batter him and deep fry him, Boil him with potatoes, carrots and onions, Roast him over hot coals. All these recipes can be found in my new cookbook, "1001 Ways to Cook a Mouse". Contestants came up with their own recipes, such as Sauteed Mouse, Steamed Mouse, and Applewood Smoked Mouse. Phedre came in first this time, followed by Fancy, and Ronin kept his third place.

The fourth puzzle, "Fed II Companies", was an easy one for Fancy, who whipped out the list in no time. Phedre was soon after, and Ronin squeeked past Sycorax, who forgot Order of the Halibut, and Caesar to retain his third place belt.

The final puzzle was "What Fedders Want for Christmas." I was nice and said nothing about barrels of pickled mice or catnip-decorated Christmas trees. Fancy, of course, finished first, with Phedre not far behind him, and Ronin consistent in third.

The final scores for the event were Ronin 5 points, Phedre 11 points and our winner, Fancy with 14 points.

Join us each Saturday at 4.00pm eastern to play Cryptograms!
