REAL LIFE NEWS: STARSHIP VOYAGER FLAT BANKRUPTS FAN Tony Alleyne is a Star Trek fan. He's such an extreme Trekkie that he spent thousands of pounds converting his flat into a replica of the Star Trek Voyager. Trouble is, his obsession has resulted in his bankruptcy. He spent £25,000 on the makeover to his flat in Hinckley, Leicestershire. It has its own transporter beam, with blue downlights to give the illusion of being 'beamed up' - sadly it wasn't a functioning transporter. There are touch sensitive control screens, and portholes instead of windows. The fan was hoping that his sci-fi interior design would turn into a business, with other fans paying him to design their homes. He spend thousands of pounds marketing this idea, but it didn't take off, and last week he was declared bankrupt with debts of £166,000. Oh dear. Take a look at his Star Trek flat on the 24th Century Interior Design site. |
