FEDPARDY

Tuesday March 28
by Fancy-Fancy

Four players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's edition of FEDPARDY! Nolepaul, Robius, Priscilla, and Asterix all came to the studio, while Kalandra, Necrose, and Twiki joined the channel to watch. Everybody seemed to already know the rules and how to play, so I started by revealing tonight's categories, which were Death and Taxes, The Arts in Sol, The Titan-ic, and Dial M for Murder. Then the players spun for the right to select first, which Robius won.

Robius selected Dial M for 1 to start the game, and rang in to respond to the answer and got it for the first point of the game. He missed a couple of 1 pointers after that, and Nolepaul and Priscilla missed one as well, while Asterix picked up 2 points from the Titan-ic category. Robius soon got out of his hole, though and had the lead at the break with 6 points to 2 for Asterix, and the others in the hole.

With Nolepaul being the one trailing, he got to select first in Double Fedpardy. He selected Death and Taxes for 8 to start Double Fedpardy. Robius rang in and got it, followed by Nolepaul collecting the 6 point answer in the category. After that Nolepaul found the first Daily Double of the game in Death and Taxes. He decided to make the Daily Double worth 5 points, and this was his answer:

Even death need not be a final farewell with life insurance. Should you have need to collect on your policy, renewing your insurance costs this much the first time.

After a while, Nolepaul responded, "5000 groats?", but that was incorrect. Asterix knew it, and provided the correct amount, though not for any points. Nolepaul still had control of the board, and promptly found the other Daily Double under The Arts in Sol. This time he made it worth 6 points, and this was the answer:

The Venus Museum has an exhibit entitled Myths and Legends, featuring this character.

Nolepaul thought about again for quite some time before trying, "What is Aprhodite?" But again that was incorrect. Pegasus, the correct response, can be found in the museum. There were no more misses after that. Robius scored 10 in Dial M and Asterix got the 6 in that category. Robius scored the 8 point answer in Titan-ic, and Priscilla the 10. That left the Arts for 10, and Robius got that one. At the end of Double Fedpardy the scores were:

Robius: 42
Priscilla: 9
Asterix: 8
Nolepaul: -12

Robius, Priscilla, and Asterix advanced to Final Fedpardy, with the opportunity to wager as many of their points as they wished. To help them decide how much they wanted to wager, I gave them the category of *Number, please*. Once all the wagers were in and all the Finalists verified they were ready, I revealed tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:

If you don't feel like making the long trek from the hospital to the spaceport on Earth by foot, you can hail a cab instead. You end up depositing 4 coins, each of them worth this many groats, to pay your fare up front.

Asterix responded with "What is six groats?" But that was incorrect. Asterix wagered everything, leaving him with nothing.

Priscilla's response was checked next, and she wrote down, "100". Unfortunately, that wasn't in the form of a question, nor was it correct. Priscilla wagered all 9 of her points, leaving her with 0.

That brought us to Robius, the leader coming in. He responded with, "what is 23?" And that was the correct response. Robius wagered 20 points, giving him a grand total of 62, and making him the runaway Fedpardy champion for this week. Congratulations, Robius!

Join us again on April 11 for our next exciting edition of Fedpardy, in which you'll have your chance to play against me as a contestant. Before that, though, we'll play the Fed Phrase Game on April 4, in which I'll also be a contestant. I'll resume hosting Fedpardy and the Fed Phrase Game on April 18.
