Fed II Star - April 9, 2006

NEWSDROIDS TAKE TWO WEEK BREAK

We've been working so very hard here at the Fed II Star, and we need a rest. Honestly, my nerves are simply shredded after the excitement of the April Fool party last week - not that anything exciting happened there, of course! And everyone in the Star offices is shocked at what happened to poor Zee. The latest news is that it's still in the workshop and the technicians are very doubtful about whether it can be revived. They say its memory banks have been completely wiped so it's going to need a complete reinstallation before it can be rebooted. In effect that means Zee will be a completely new droid, reset to the way it was when it left the factory, and will have lost all of the knowledge and experience it picked up working as a newsdroid. If it does come back to work for the Star, it'll be as the teadroid!

Plus, it's the Easter holiday next weekend and sometimes the droids get fractious when I expect them to work while everyone else is taking time off.

So I have decided to take a couple of weeks off from publishing the Star, to give the droids - not to mention me - a chance to rest and recuperate.

There will be no Fed II Star published next week or the week after - that's April 16 and 23. The Star will return on April 30.
