FEDPARDY

Tuesday April 25
by Fancy-Fancy

Three players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's game of Fedpardy. Asterix, Alphatron, and Priscilla came to the studio to play, with Zahri, Necrose, and Rectobot joining the channel to watch. I went over the rules of the game, and then revealed the categories for our players, and relay audience. They were: V for Victory, You... Belong in the Zoo, Symbols and Logos, and Number, please. The players spun the wheel for the initial selection, and Asterix won that honor. He used the selection to pick You... Belong in the Zoo for 1, and the game was on.

Asterix missed on it, and the others passed on trying for "What is a llama?" Asterix picked up the first positive point on the next answer. The players picked most of the low-point answers in the first half, and at the end of the Fedpardy round, Asterix and Priscilla were tied for the lead with 4 points each, and Alphatron was in a hole with -13 points.

As the one trailing, Alphatron got the first selection of Double Fedpardy, and promptly rang in on and responded correctly to his selection, Number, please for 10. Asterix picked up the 8 point answer in V for Victory, then found the first of two Daily Doubles. He decided to make it worth the 8 points he had just picked up, and this was the answer from V for Victory:

A player whose name and race both begin with the letter V.

Asterix guessed, "Who is Valnor?", but that was incorrect. (How many thought of Vlad?) Asterix continued on with Symbols and Logos for 8, but missed when he rang in for it. He selected the category for 10, but Alphatroc missed on it. Asterix finally did get the 6 point answer and out of the hole with the correct question to that answer. That left the zoo category, where with 2 points to Priscilla's 4, Asterix found the second Daily Double. He decided to make his wager be 2 points, and this was the answer:

In several places around the solar system, you can find the head of this animal mounted on the wall, or on a plaque.

Asterix responded, "What is a Zlitherworm?", but while that appears in one place, it was not the correct response. The mooseheads (or stag heads) are more common, and was the correct response. The rest of the category ended up getting passed on, and the scores after Double Fedpardy were:

Priscilla 4
Asterix 0
Alphatron -13

Priscilla was our lone advancer to Final Fedpardy tonight, and got the category of *Where am I?* to help decide how much she wished to risk on it. When she had placed her bet and verified she was ready, I then revealed tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:

The Lattice features a large, steam-driven version of this in one of its rooms. Adventurers are sometimes given a small-scale version of it to carry.

Priscilla's response to this was, "What is a calliope?", but that was incorrect. People may remember the steam driven orrery on the Lattice, and the orrery given to them as adventurers to carry on Akaturi missions. That was the correct response. Priscilla risked one point, finishing with 3, and this week that was enough to make her our champion.

Congratulations to Priscilla, winner of this week's Fedpardy championship. Thanks also to Asterix and Alphatron, and those who tuned in to watch the relay. We'll play Fedpardy again on May 9, starting at 10.00pm eastern. And on May 2, we play the Fed Phrase Game in Studio 1. Join us for that.
