NEW INFRASTRUCTURE BUILD: CLINICS

New in today is the third infrastructure build: clinics. These are primary health care units in both urban and rural locations, and are essential to keep your population healthy and to control epidemics.

Before you all rush off to build loads of these facilities, you need to understand what they are for. The fact is, that they don't give any direct benefit to agricultural planets, but they are a prerequisite for a later build: hospitals.

There are two kinds of clinics: general clinics and teaching clinics. General clinics keep the population healthy and are essential at higher ranks; they are one of the builds that have a damaging effect if you fail to build them. For each level above agricultural you will need two clinics (so resource planets will need two, industrial four, and so on). Lack of clinics will reduce your working population - 10% for each required clinic you don't have.

Teaching clinics are needed if you want to build hospitals (which will be the next infrastructure build added to the game). For each two clinics built you can build one hospital. Hospitals increase the working population of the planet. More details about their working will go in the Fed II Star when the build is implemented.

The command to build a clinic is 'BUILD CLINIC'. If the planet does not have enough general clinics then building a clinic will automatically allocate it as a general clinic; otherwise, it will be an unallocated clinic until you either build a hospital, or promote to the next level.

The details of this infrastructure build have been added to the Idiot's Guide.
