 REAL LIFE NEWS: MORE REASONS WHY RED WINE IS GOOD FOR YOU We already know that moderate quantities of red wine can be good for you in a number of ways. Now scientists have discovered they can delay the onset of age-related deafness, and reduce hearing loss caused by loud noise. The delicate hairs of the inner ear which are vital for hearing get damaged by the oxygen free radicals produced throughout life. Exposure to loud noise also has an effect, as do some antibiotics. Antioxidants such as those found in red wine can help to neutralise these free radicals, so may protect against some of the damage. Aspirin also has the same effect, but isn't as much fun! |
