ROLE-PLAY CLASS

Sunday May 28
by Catspaws

After weeks of practice on our role-play skills, I decided, since it was a major holiday weekend for many of us, to celebrate summer by taking my role-play class on a special beach party and barbecue. So, donning my bikini and dragging my stolen Dryad towel, I headed for the warm sands of the water mini on Magrathea. It's a good thing droids don't celebrate holidays, because I snatched up almost every droid in Sol to run the barbecue grills and provide drinks for my guests.

Gilar and Gwaptiva were the first to arrive, Gwaptiva sipping something brown, with ice, straw and umbrella. Through the day he seemed to have a lot of trouble with that straw and umbrella, but I was a good kitty and didn't laugh - aloud. Asterix, Fed's party guy, arrived next in his board shorts and a t-shirt. Perseus arrived next, but every time we tried to look at him, we had the strangest problems focusing our eyes.

The droids were doing a good job with the grills, and we were beginning to smell the delicious smells of grilling meats. Gwaptiva ordered a beach chair from the vendor, but proved he is better at Cryptograms than he is at managing chairs. Eventually he settled back with a sigh.

Droid, Squeeky, Ronin and Occy arrived next, despite the fact I'd been giving everyone directions to come to the ICE mini. No, it's NOT true that cats give lousy directions. I just felt some of them might need to chill... Squeeky proved it's not a good idea to take it out in public by placing a crab near my tail. I was not amused, and moved my stolen towel to another part of the beach.

Anthony showed up at this point, bearing a tomahawk and seemingly doing rituals around the grills. I thought perhaps he wanted to sacrifice the mouse. Getting up to check the grills, I found one droid wearing a huge pair of sunglasses and stretched out on the sand. You just can't get good help these days!

The food was ready and we raced to the tables, filling our plates. Anthony started chanting, "Go n-ithe an cat th- is go n-ithe an cat." Hmmmmm... The droids cooked more food, and Gwaptiva ordered another drink, with crushed ice and no umbrella. Guess he values his eyesight.

Jessecka showed up, still miffed about my gorgeous towel, and showed off her black bikini and tiny baby bulge. Hmmmph. Humans make such a big deal. Try having a whole litter sometime! I think I look pretty good in my red bikini, considering I have a litter of kittens toddling around Catseye at the moment. Anywho...

Robius arrived to share a towel with his wife, and Anthony was still chanting. "Nuair at- an cat amuigh b-onn na luch ag damhsa." We all just agreed with him and went on with our conversation while Anthony continued to dance around the grill. But then the conversation turned to ways to skin a cat. Now wait a minute! Just when I thought the party was a success, Icey showed up...

Icey's arrival actually turned out to be a blessing, as he broke one of the most basic of role-play rules we've discussed in our classes... power role-playing. I was proud of my students who pointed out how Icey could get a cat wet and not spoil the fun for everyone. Good work, class!

Before the party ended, Ronin and Phedre arrived. It was great to see them, since both have been noticeably absent for a while. It was a great day, and a great party, and a great way to bring in the summer. It was also a great opportunity for us all to practice the role-play skills we have been studying. (I'm signing Icey up for classes, by the way.)

Thanks to all the partyers for coming to play with us, and we'll see you in next time for our next role-play class, on Sunday June 11 at 4.00pm eastern.
