ROLE-PLAYING CLASS

It's hard to believe summer is almost over, yet the kids are starting back to school, there are the most delightful sales on clothing and school supplies, and, though the thermometer is still in the 100's in places, it's time to think of fall. In Fed, fall signals the return of the Events - like Cryptograms! So, to start off the class this week, I decided to poll the students to learn what they themselves wanted in events for the coming season. I had to wake a few of them after they fell asleep in their chairs, but what I managed to learn is that Feddergories rules, Cryptograms is Queen, they pant for fighting games, and they like anything similar to a scavenger hunt. I also learned we have a delightful new player, Ropp, who had no clue about the games on last year's calendar, yet managed to ask for almost every one. If any of my readers out there have any ideas or suggestions for games you'd like to see, you can email me at catspaws_fed@sbcglobal.net or contact feedback@ibgames.com.

For the second half of the class, I followed up on what we have been discussing lately, and we played with mobiles. I am often amazed at how many players have no clue how to talk to a mobile, and some of them are in the upper ranks. Mobiles are special objects that can do a number of things - like talk to you. To discover if an object is a mobile, you can type 'Mobilename Hello'. For example, 'DIESEL HELLO' will earn you a nice response. Some people type 'SAY DIESEL HELLO' and that doesn't work out very well. (I use Diesel as an example because we hold the class in CDs and she's one of the two mobiles present.) You can also 'TELL DIESEL HELLO'. Most mobiles will talk to you, though a few, like the Arcturian in CD's, are too busy to make time for you.

We had a bit of fun learning the different things Diesel will talk about. If you, the reader, haven't spoken to her lately, please do so. She is a wealth of information on Mars and early Fed history. Then, of course, the class decided to play with the OTHER things Diesel will do, like hit you with her bat. At that point, thankfully, our hour was up.

There are other talking mobiles around Sol, such as Tracey on Phobos and Victor on Earth. See how many you can locate and practice talking to them. You can find more information on mobiles, and suggested topics of conversation, on the website.
