DEAR JESSY

by Jessecka

Dear Jessy,

I'm a new player to Fed2 and the other day I was offered by someone else a program to help me hauling. I just wondered if I should use it, or if I should be worried about it. What is your thoughts on this?

MacroMan on Magellan

Dear MacroMan,

Well, first, let me welcome you to Fed2! We have a lot of fun and interesting things to do here in DataSpace, and many special events returning soon to help ease your hauling blues. Be sure to check out the website, under Fun Things, and check out all the cool things we have there as well.

To answer your question, Fed2 does NOT condone the use of hauling programs, scripts or macros. Now, to go into the detail as to why, I must say, it's not to make your experience dull and boring, but to keep you safe. There are many things in DataSpace that can kill the unwary traveller... just ask Icey... he's burned himself to a crisp on the sun more times than he has changed his underwear! It is easy for a program to go awry, leaving you stuck in a place that is dangerous to your health.

On top of that, a lot of time and effort has been put into creating ranks and requirements that build on each other, meaning that each thing you learn at one rank you use later on in another rank. The requirements may sometimes seem like a lot, but the key to it is doing that job over and over until you are very familiar with the commands and such, so later on you are not lost in the dark on how to do it.

Personally, I don't like macros and such, simply because if you use something to play the game for you, then where is the sense of accomplishment when you do finish something? It's not like you did it yourself! If you find that you are becoming bored with hauling or AK jobs, then there are lots of things to do to relieve the tedium. Go to a bar and invite some friends for drinks. Have a beach party. Join in some games, once they start back up, which will be soon. The role-playing opportunities in Fed are many and can be tailored to your tastes. The sky is the limit. Join Catspaws for a role-playing class to learn things you might not know about Dataspace. And in the end, it's all about the people you meet. Make friends, have fun.
