FED PHRASE GAME

Tuesday October 17
by Fancy-Fancy, Engineer of Toontown

Four players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's Fed Phrase Game. Graham, Gandroid, Nolepaul, and Mokona came out to play, while Emie, Jet, and Tomahawk watched the action. Squeeky also came in to watch toward the end. I went over the rules for all that needed them, and satisfied that everyone knew how to play, we got started. Spinning for position, Graham gained first in the order, followed by Nolepaul, then Gandroid. Mokona joined the game in progress, and was added to the order after Gandroid.

Tonight's first puzzle was a 7 word phrase (3, 4, 3, 4, 2, 1, and 8 letters), and Graham got to start it. Graham found a couple of T's and an R for 1550 points before a Lose a Turn stopped him. Nolepaul took over and picked up a free spin with his first letter. He missed with an M on his next letter, and decided to use his free spin to continue his turn. Nolepaul proceeded to put the H's, E's, K, O's, N, I's, F, A, S, U, D's, and L's, then solved - dug into the rock of a hillside - to take Round 1 for 2100 points.

Our second puzzle was 4 word things (6, 4, 3, and 7 letters), and Gandroid got to start it. He found an R for 350, then picked up a free spin with a T. He bought the E, found the S's, P, N, and D, until a missing L ended his turn. He decided to hold onto his free spin and passed the puzzle to Mokona. Mokona spun 700, but found no H's. Graham got to spin, but landed on Bankrupt. Nolepaul found a C for 700 points, then bought an A, which existed in the puzzle, then an I, which didn't, ending his turn. Gandroid got the puzzle back and found a K, but no J. He again decided to hold onto the free spin, and Mokona got the puzzle back. This time he found some letters - a pair of M's for 800, bought the O's, and a pair of B's for 2000 more. With only a vowel left, Mokona decided to solve - brooms, mops and buckets - to win Round 2 for 2550 points.

Tonight's third puzzle was a 6 word thing (9, 5, 2, 3, 7, and 9 letters). We were back to Graham in the order to start this puzzle, and he got off to quite a start, finding an R for 1000, four T's for 500 each, and an H for another 1000 before a Lose a Turn got him. Nolepaul got control of the puzzle and proceeded to add C, L, O, E, A, M, F, I, U, P, Y, and Q to the puzzle, then with just a couple blanks left, decided to solve - exquisite aroma of top quality chocolate - to capture Round 3 for 4150 points.

We had time for one last puzzle tonight, and it was a 6 word place (5, 7, 3, 1, 4, and 3 letters). Gandroid got to start it with his free spin carrying over from earlier, and proceeded to add R, T, H, A, N, D, L, E, S, C, and I before missing with an M. He used his free spin there to continue his turn, and placed a P in the puzzle before solving - Three Ethnics and a Wasp, Ltd. - to win Round 4 for 5500 points.

That brought us to the end of our hour, and I added up the scores. Finishing third tonight, with 2550 points, was Mokona! Our runner-up, with 5500 points, was Gandroid. And tonight's big winner, with 6250 points, Nolepaul! Congratulations to all three, and thanks to everyone for playing or tuning in tonight. Plans are being finalized for our Halloween party, so the next Fed Phrase Game may or may not be on Halloween night beginning at 10 p.m. Eastern. Fedpardy is definitely on for October 24, starting at 10.00pm eastern, though. Join me in Studio 1 for FEDPARDY! then.
