FEDPARDY!

Tuesday November 7
by Fancy-Fancy, Engineer of Toontown

Four players joined me for tonight's edition of Fedpardy. Liakell, Genike, Mythic, and Emie joined me in the studio and participated, while Gaffed, Squeeky, and Oris came by to watch in the studio. Everyone was already familiar with the rules of the game, so I skipped right to tonight's categories. They were: The Galactic Administration, Phobos Phobia, This Just In, and Business & Industry. Liakell won the spin-off for the initial selection, and started the game with This Just In for 1.

Liakell rang in to respond to the answer she picked, and gave the correct question to pick up the first point tonight. Emie rang in for the 2, then started the Galactic Administration category. After capturing the 2 point answer in that category, Liakell went back to This Just In. After gaining the 3 point answer, she found the first of two Daily Doubles. She decided to risk one point on this one and her answer was:

Amidst the fields and pastures of Rhea, you might find your way in here, hearing the proprietor Joe Bob welcoming you and asking what he can get you, all in one breath.

Liakell responded, "What is Joe Bob's General Store?", correct for 1 point. Liakell proceeded to gain the 5 point answer as well, and at that point, Genike bowed out of the game. Emie and Liakell picked up 3 points each in the Phobos Phobia category to make the scores at the break:

Liakell: 14
Emie: 4
Mythic: -1
Genike: -2

As the one trailing and still around, Mythic got the first selection of Double Fedpardy, and used the pick to take Business & Industry for 2. This turned out to have some tough answers tonight, with nobody getting the 6, 8, or 10 point answers in the category. Mythic gave the last correct question in the category, on the 4 point answer, and when the category was gone, selected the Galactic Administration for 6. Liakell picked up those points, and Emie the 8. Mythic and Emie both missed on the 10-point answer though, losing 10 points each. Phobos Phobia remained, and Emie, in the hole with -4 points, found the remaining Daily Double. With Liakell in the lead with 20 points, she decided why not go all out, and wagered the maximum allowed for someone in the hole in Double Fedpardy, 10 points, and this was her answer:

The center of Phobos' Alpha dome is called this, a very apt pun for biologists.

Emie thought about it a while, and just as I was about to ask if she had a response, she responded, "What is the Alpha Kernel?" That was correct, for 10 points, getting her out of the hole. Nobody tried our remaining answer, Phobos Phobia for 10, so our scores at the end of Double Fedpardy were:

Liakell: 20
Emie: 6
Genike: -2
Mythic: -7

Liakell and Emie advanced to Final Fedpardy, with the opportunity to risk as many or as few of their points as they wished. Tonight's category, to help them decide their wagers, was Music in Fed. Once their wagers were in, I went over how Final Fedpardy operates, and upon verifying they were both ready, revealed tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:

One of the song titles played on the Old Earth Taproom jukebox.

When time was up, we started with Emie in second place. Her response was "electric dreams'". Unfortunately, that is not in the form of a question, so we couldn't give it to her. It was otherwise a correct response. But it instead cost her her wager of 1 point, leaving her with 5.

That brought us to Liakell. Her question was "What is Ain't Nothing But a Groundhog?" While you hear that in the Lucky Seven Saloon, it's not one of the songs the jukebox plays, so that was incorrect. Liakell's wager was 7 points, leaving her with 13. That ensured that Liakell was this week's Fedpardy champion!

Congratulations to Liakell on winning this week's championship, and thanks to all our players and spectators. Join me again on November 21 for our next exciting edition of FEDPARDY! And on November 14, join me in Studio 1 for the Fed Phrase Game.
