ROLE-PLAY CLASS

Sunday November 12
by Catspaws

Last week I think I mentioned - or whined about - a new restaurant Victoria has opened in the Dixie system. Although a new role-play to Federation 2, this is actually an old role-play that began in Classic Federation when a planet owner in my duchy of Litterbox sent me a wav file of a takeoff on the song, "Cat in the Cradle." (If you want to hear this song, do a web search for "Cat in the Kettle" and you'll find it.) Kingman, whose duchy and mine were allied, ran with the song, and soon was selling franchises to Peking Moon restaurants. The first to open was, of course, on Victoria's planet of Tara. Eventually these restaurants were popping up in several duchies, although, naturally, they were banned in my own.

And now they're back...

Which is why I shouldn't have been surprised when Tara opened in Federation 2 and, surprise! I starting getting messages about something awful on Tara. Yes, indeed, the Peking Moon was back. The Peking Moon Restaurant on Tara is located down and west from the Tara shuttle pad. Once you see it, you'll understand why my character is so annoyed by the existence of this restaurant. My character is appalled that this restaurant has appeared, while I, as a player, can smell the role-play potential even with my currently-stuffy nose.

So I decided to toss the role-play to the class and see what they could do with it. They didn't disappoint me. They immediately started lining up, some on my side, some on Kingman's side, many seeking information on Peking Moon franchises. The traitors! I won't reveal all the ideas we came up with because, frankly, it would spoil the suspense as the role-play develops. Suffice to say, Kingman and I both came away from the class with a renewed determination to take this role-play to the limits. If you, the reader, want to participate, feel free to jump right in.
