FEDPARDY

Tuesday November 21
by Fancy-Fancy, Engineer of Toontown

Four players joined me in Studio 1 on the Lattice for tonight's game of Fedpardy, and I received a slithy tove to award tonight's winner. Kblackdragon and Kalandra watched on the channel while Oberon, Genike, Emie, and Liakell all played in Studio 1. I went over the rules for Oberon, made sure he knew how to ring in, and with all that taken care of, next revealed tonight's categories. They were: You... Belong in the Zoo, Through the Woods, T for Turkey, and Leftovers. Oberon gained initial control of the board, selected T for Turkey for 2 points, and we were underway.

Emie rang in first to respond to that answer, and did so correctly for the first points of the game. Emie went Through the Woods next for 1, and Liakell got it after Genike picked the wrong wood. Liakell tried the Leftovers for 1, and Ike missed on that one, too, but Oberon rang in just in time to respond, and did so correctly to pick up the point. The contestants stayed with Leftovers, with Emie picking up the 2 and 3 point answers, and then finding the first Daily Double under the 4 point answer. Emie decided to make it worth 2 points, and this was the answer:

The private firm given the contract to provide security services in Earth's main city.

Emie tried, "What is Mssrs Tremble, Cruikshank, and Bone?" and shrugged her shoulders, but that was wrong. Nightwatch was the correct response for that. That cost her 2, and she decided to finish off the Leftovers for 5. Oberon and Genike both tried, and both got it wrong to lose 5 points each, and the others decided to pass on trying it. Emie decided to go to the Zoo for 2 next, and Genike jumped in to get that one. Ike chose T for 5 points next, and after inadvertently presenting the wrong clue, presented the right one. Ike and Emie both missed on it to lose 5 points each. The final selection of the first half was T for 4, and Liakell got that one, to pull into the lead at the break as the only one on the plus side.

Genike, as the one trailing everybody, got the first selection of Double Fedpardy, and selected the Zoo for 10, hoping to get out of the hole with one clue. However after seeing the answer, nobody tried ringing in to respond, so it got passed, and Ike selected Through the Woods for 10. Liakell rang in to get that one for 10 points. She next selected T for 2, and got it, then Ike beat her to the buzzer on the 6 point answer and collected those 6 points. Ike chose Woods for 8, and after checking sequoias and finding both major varieties to be redwoods, I credited him with a correct response on that answer, which pulled him out of the hole. Unfortunately for Ike, that didn't last long as he promptly missed on the 6 to go back in the hole, and Liakell picked up the points. Liakell decided to finish Woods, and Oberon rang in first, only to get it wrong. Ike tried it next, again trying a wood he thought would be in the category, but wasn't used, to lose 4 more, and no one else tried it, so it got passed. With just answers in the Zoo category left, Liakell selected the 2 pointer from it. Emie, Genike, and Oberon each took a shot at the animal described, but none of them got it, each losing 2 points for their misses. Liakell still had the selection and uncovered the other Daily Double. With a commanding lead, Liakell decided to risk just one point on the Daily Double, and this was the answer:

In several places around the solar system, you can find the head of this animal mounted on the wall, or on a plaque.

Liakell responded, "What is a Zlitherworm?", but the key word in the clue was "several" places, and the zlitherworm head only appears in one. But there are several moose heads to be found (or stag heads), either of which would have been a correct response. Genike rang in and correctly responded to the 8 point answer to finish off Double Fedpardy, making the scores:

Liakell: 19
Genike: 0
Emie: -2
Oberon: -10

Liakell was the only one with points to wager in Final Fedpardy, so she alone advanced. Given the category of *In the News*, she wrote down her wager, and upon verifying she was ready, I revealed tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:

The first player to solve the Halloween puzzle on Graveyard.

When time was up, we took a look at her response - "Who is Mythic?" - and it was correct. Her wager was 18 points, giving her 37 total, and making her this week's Fedpardy champion, and winner of a slithy tove!

Congratulations to Liakell on winning this week's Fedpardy, and thanks to all our players who participated. Join me again on December 5 for our next exciting edition of FEDPARDY! in Studio 1 on the Lattice. And on November 28, join me there for the Fed Phrase Game as we spin the wheel and try to solve word puzzles.
