CHRISTMAS SCAVENGER HUNT

Saturday December 30
by Fancy-Fancy

After conducting the Scavenger Hunt on the 23rd, but only having Gwaptiva really playing, I tried again today right after Cryptograms, and got a good turnout. Willzyx, Captainfuzzy, Dragonslayer, Catspaws, Joules, and Gwaptiva all tuned in to play or watch the festivities of 2006's Christmas Scavenger Hunt. There were 20 Christmas-related objects with associated clues to what the object was and where it could be found. I advised the players that only what was in the clues would matter, not any of the recently erected Christmas decorations in various locations. After answering player questions, issuing a final call for those who wanted to play to come to the Cantina, and making sure all players were on the channel, I told everyone to go ahead and READ CLUES to get the clues to all the objects, and they could begin.

The clues were:

Clue 1: The sickly Christmas drink won't help the mechanics repair your ship!
Clue 2: Mother and daughter are concealing this glass decoration.
Clue 3: Do the members of this new religion give each other gifts?
Clue 4: The flickering flame adds to the warning about dangerous beasts.
Clue 5: A tool used to break open food won't deal with the nutty characters in this tent.
Clue 6: Send seasons greetings to newbods when they set foot in Fed DataSpace.
Clue 7: Prickly greenery - discarded here because it was too heavy, perhaps?
Clue 8: A heavily spiced foodstuff that nobody wants to eat - no wonder they want to complain about it!
Clue 9: Fill it up with presents while you listen to the jukebox.
Clue 10: Flashing on and off, in many different colors, these would interfere with the hovering security camera.
Clue 11: The furniture may be malfunctioning, but there's a Christmas garland inside.
Clue 12: The glittery dangly decoration, stored with the mining equipment.
Clue 13: Archeologists search for signs of alien life, but I don't think they were expecting to find a celestial being.
Clue 14: A talking plant hides a Christmas plant.
Clue 15: Frosty wouldn't survive long in this restaurant.
Clue 16: The kissing berry won't be of any interest to the dead who reside here.
Clue 17: The cold six-pointed symmetry seems out of place in this noisy, garish junk-food restaurant.
Clue 18: Twinkle twinkle, join me for afternoon tea, anytime.
Clue 19: This brainy couple who love puzzles would use it for presents, hair, or maybe even a violin.
Clue 20: A satin strip used to tie things up won't help with the red tape in this office of firing and hiring.

Dragonslayer got off to a fast start, bringing back clue #15, followed shortly thereafter with clue #6. Joules brought me a bottle of rock dust from Sumatra, but that wasn't one of the objects, nor was a pair of dice that Willzyx brought back. Meanwhile Dragonslayer also found and brought me items #5, 3, 1, and 8 in the first half hour. Catspaws brought back clue #9 to break up Dragonslayer's monopoly on points, and soon Willzyx brought back some items of his own. He broke through with clue #19, followed a few minutes later with #4. Captainfuzzy came back with a find of his own, bringing back the "kissing berry" of clue #16. And with a few minutes to go, Willzyx brought me back the ribbon, the solution to clue #20 to cap the scoring.

I counted everyone's items, and the prize of a slithy tove for bringing back the most items went to Dragonslayer, finder of 6 items! Congratulations! Kudos also to Willzyx, who found 3 items, and to Catspaws and Captainfuzzy, who brought back one each. I then satisfied everyone's curiosity of what all these objects were, and where they were found, by revealing to those present the solutions.

If you can't figure out what the solutions to these clues are and are eager to know, you can ask either me in the game, or Hazed via Feedback.
