WELCOME BACK... AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

Well, it's back to the grindstone after the long Christmas break. I hope you all had a great festive season. I returned to the Fed2 Star office and discovered Dot Matrix had got herself into a terrible mess! For some reason, she'd decided to redecorate my office - not quite the color scheme I would have chosen but I suppose it's better than the old faded and stained paintwork - and she also ripped up the grotty old carpet to reveal some rather nice floorboards. She did a good job varnishing them except for one thing: she painted herself into a corner! Yes, instead of starting at the point furthest away from the door and proceeding across the room until she reached the exit, she started at the door and moved inwards, finally ending up with nowhere to go. She was forced to cross the still-wet varnish to get out - and she got stuck! When I returned, her little metal feet were still firmly glued to the floor by the now-dry varnish. The only way to free her was for two of the other newsdroids to lever up the boards she had stuck to and then lift her free. So now my office has two great big holes in the floor! Nice one, Dot, thanks a bunch.

I shouldn't be so hard on her - she was only trying to help - and she did do a good job at issuing all the special bulletins while I was away. At least she didn't have a nervous breakdown like that useless lump of metal last year, Robbie.

I hope you also enjoyed Christmas in Fed2, and that you visited Santa in his grotto, took a ride on his sleigh, sat in his lap and got a toy from his lucky dip tub. He'll be back next year but remember, he'll be watching you until then to determine whether you are naughty or nice.

So, the new year has started, and I hope it brings all of you joy and success in your endeavors.
