FEDPARDY!

Tuesday April 10
by Fancy-Fancy, Engineer of Toontown

Three players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's edition of FEDPARDY! Cricket, Monkeyone, and Sephorin all joined me in the Studio. I went over the rules of the game for our players and answered remaining questions they had. We then took a look at the categories we would use tonight: Q-Ball, Death and Taxes, Magellan, and Sol Objects. With all questions settled, I then had the players spin the wheel for the honor of the first selection, and Monkey gained that. Monkey chose Q-Ball for 1 and the game was on.

Monkey rang in first on that Q-Ball answer and gave the correct question for the night's first point. Sephorin rang in first on the 2-point answer and did the same. Seph continued with Q-Ball and Monkey rang in on the 3, but forgot the category and responded incorrectly to lose 3 points, and no one tried the 4. Seph switched to Death and Taxes. Cricket and Sephorin both responded incorrectly to the 1-point answer, though Seph got the 2 pointer after Monkey missed it. They then did the reverse on the 3 pointer, with Seph missing, and Monkey responding correctly. Monkey decided to finish off Q-Ball for 5, and gave an incorrect response to it, losing 5 more points. Monkey then switched to Sol Objects. Nobody attempted the 1, but Cricket missed on the 2, and Sephorin got it. That put Sephorin in the lead with 2 at the break, with Cricket at -3, and Monkeyone at -6.

Monkeyone got the first selection of Double Fedpardy as the one trailing, and selected Death and Taxes for 8. He also rang in and got it to get out of the hole, and then found the first Daily Double under Death and Taxes for 10. With 2 points, he decided to make it worth 2 points, and this was the answer:

Even death need not be a final farewell with life insurance. Should you have need to collect on your policy, renewing your insurance costs this much the first time.

Monkey got it correct by responding, "What is 1000?", and took the lead. Monkey then selected Sol Objects for 6 and got it to add to his lead. Nobody attempted the 8 or 10 point answers in that category, leaving the Magellan category. No one tried the 2 or 4 point answers, but Monkey found the other Daily Double under the 6 pointer. He again decided to make it worth 2 points, and this was the answer:

This company has made a business of buying low and selling high, only as a corporate entity and on a corporate scale. They put their headquarters on Magellan to avoid interference from the Trading Guild.

After a long wait and my asking if he had a response, Monkey tried "what is Brewster and Boothroyd?", but that was incorrect, so it cost him 2. Cricket and Sephorin identified the correct company as Universal Exports, though not for points. Sephorin rang in on the 8 point answer and promptly uttered "Uh oh" in reaction. She recovered to provide the correct response, though, for 8 points. Monkey then finished Double Fedpardy by responding to the 10 point answer, where the correct question really was, "What is Brewster and Boothroyd?"

The scores at the end of Double Fedpardy were then Monkeyone 18, Sephorin 10, Cricket -3. Monkey and Seph advanced to Final Fedpardy, with the opportunity to wager as many of their points as they wished. I thanked Cricket for coming out to play, but her night was done. I gave the Finalists the category of Fed 2 History, and they decided their wagers. When they then verified they were ready, I revealed tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:

The date (including year) on which Fed 2 first became available for players to enter the game.

I started with Sephorin in second place. Her question was, "What is 2001?", but that was incorrect. Her bet was all 10 points, leaving her with nothing.

That brought us to Monkeyone, the leader coming in. His response was "july 18th 2004". Unfortunately, that was not in the form of a question. Not that it mattered here, since it wasn't the correct date, either. The correct date was December 25, 2003, Christmas Day. Monkey's wager was 3 points, leaving him with 15, enough to make him this week's Fedpardy champion.

Congratulations to Monkeyone on winning this week's Fedpardy, and thanks to Cricket and Sephorin for also playing. I hope you'll join me again in Studio 1 on April 24 for our next exciting edition of FEDPARDY! Also join me April 17 beginning at 10.00pm eastern for the Fed Phrase Game.
