REAL LIFE NEWS: SMOKING ISN'T ALWAYS BAD FOR YOU

by Hazed

Smoking kills. Everyone (except perhaps the tobacco companies) probably realizes that by now. But just occasionally, nipping out for a quick smoke can save your life. This is what happened to Brenda Comer, of Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Brenda had just finished washing dishes and when it got to eleven o'clock she decided to pop out for a cigarette - presumably she didn't want to drop ash into the dish water! But as she was outside, puffing away - as the Seattle Times reports - "an 80-foot-tall oak tree, felled by winds gushing up to 40mph, crashed through the roof."

The tree landed on the kitchen, exactly where she had been standing when she'd been doing the washing up. Her daughter Amy, who was still indoors, escaped without injury. Brenda later told her husband Franky, "Honey, I know you fuss at me for smoking, but today it saved my life."

So you see, smoking isn't always bad for you. Of course, you could also take the moral from the story that washing up is dangerous!
