ON THE WEB: JAPANESE NEUTRINO OBSERVATORY

The Super-Kamiokande, or Super-K, is a new neutrino observatory 3,200 feet under Gifu in Japan. It's been built to detect all kinds of exotic sub-atomic particles. But who cares what it's actually for - when you look at pictures of the thing, it's like the sets from the best sci-fi movie ever!

Here's a fabulous gallery of pictures of the Super-K. Unfortunately the text is in Japanese so I have no idea what they actually are...
