ON THE WEB: THE STRANGE LOOK OF IAPETUSby HazedThe Cassini spaceprobe which is doing a flyby of Saturn and its moons was recently sent to take a look at Iapetus, and it swooped to within 2,000 kilometers of the moon last month. It's a strange moon: vast sections of it are dark as coal, while others are bright as ice. It's got a huge impact crater that sits inside an even bigger, older one. It's altogether very weird. Take a look at one of the pictures Cassini took here. |
