BIO EXPLOSION HITS GALAXY

by Hazed

Anyone who moaned about a shortage of biological commodities will be delighted to see all the new bio planets that have gone in during the past week - the Galaxy is now awash with them, as newly-minted Gengineers exercise their right to link in a biological asteroid.

This is the first time planets have been linked into the game at anything other than agricultural level, and it took a while for the owners to get to grips with the implications. The most obvious surprise was that a new bio planet only has a population of 200 workthings, which isn't much use! This is due to the lack of builds needed at the bio level; once you find enough groats to add the necessary infrastructure, the population increases accordingly. Don't forget the 'DI POPULATION' command which tells you where the reduction to the workforce comes from.

Those of you who are designing your bio planets from scratch will be pleased to know that the location allowance for Gengineers goes up to 180, giving you an extra 50 to use on your bio world if you choose. If that is not enough, you can increase your allowance by purchasing an extra 30 locations per planet; with three planets in your system, that means 90 extra locations are available giving you an absolute limit of 270. Each extra planet's-worth of locations you buy will cost you 2 slithy toves, so to get the maximum possible locations will cost you 6 slithies.

If you don't want to design your own bio planet, or at least not yet, then I have written a new stock planet called Laboratory. Download it from the bio stock planet page, which also includes instructions about how to customize it for your star system.

There is a picture for the Laboratory planet on the stock planet picture page.
