REAL LIFE NEWS: DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE, EVEN IF YOUR VEHICLE IS A BEER COOLER

by Hazed

You may have heard of the motorized beer cooler, which is a great gadget that has been featured by (among other people) humorist Dave Barry. It is exactly what it sounds like: a beer cooler on wheels, with an electric motor. See http://www.cruzincooler.com/ for details. But if you own of these, or are thinking of getting one, do be careful: it turns out that for the purposes of the law, the motirized beer cooler is considered a motor vehicle and thus subject to regulations about driving when drunk.

That's what Leslie J "Bomber" Marr, a 57 year old man, found out recently when he was charged with driving while intoxicated when police pulled him over for swerving and driving on the sidewalk on his four-wheeled beer cooler.

He's been released pending prosecution, and the cooler has been confiscated by police. It had 14 beers in it at the time of arrest... I guess police have confiscated those, as well!
