KRYSTAL'S SEARCH FOR GOSSIP

by Hazed

If you visit Mario's bar on the Moon you will find a new character that you can chat to. Krystal is a gossip columnist - no, not for the Fed2 Star, but for the high-class magazine Galactipoliton, which specializes in celebrity tittle-tattle and details about expensive clothes and jewelry - trivial stuff.

Talk to Krystal by typing her name followed by a word or phrase you think she will respond to - for example 'KRYSTAL HELLO'. You can also use the 'TELL' command to talk to her, when you are in the same room: 'TELL KRYSTAL HELLO'. Her response will give you a clue about something else she will respond to.

Did You Know...

Krystal has been collecting gossip for a long, long time... she was a mobile back in Fed's early days on the Compunet network in the UK. In fact, she dates back even further than the dawn of Fed time because she was a real player in the original MUD game that Bella played before writing Fed. Krystal the Muse was famous in MUD for collecting gossip about what the players were doing, and was Bella's friend - which is why she ended up as a mobile in Fed.

Originally she traveled the Solar System, visiting every single location in turn, making it quite hard to find her. Those who remember the object-mobile matches that used to give you groats in the old days of classic Fed may remember that her preferred object was a photograph, described thusly:

A closer examination reveals that it is a picture of two well-known Federation personalities caught in flagrante delicto by the camera! Very careless of them to leave it here!

It was worth trekking around trying to find Krystal, because she paid well for that evidence.

Krystal isn't the only mobile that is based on a real person... last week I told you about Pegasus, and I'll write about some of the others in future editions.
