REAL LIFE NEWS: TEXTING IN YOUR SLEEP

by Hazed

You've heard of sleep-walking, I am sure - where people get out of bed and wander around the house in the middle of the night, without actually waking up. In some cases they go and raid the fridge (sleep-eating) and in extremes, people have been known to leave the house and commit all kinds of outrageous and even criminal acts without actually being conscious.

Now it's claimed that there's one more activity people are starting to do in their sleep... sending text messages. According to a Texan newspaper, a 24-year-old woman from Italy, Texas, woke up recently to discover she had sent several text messages to her boyfriend while she was fast asleep. This, despite the fact that her rather complicated phone forced her to go through 11 menu options before reaching the text message screen!

The story did not say what was the content of her messages - we hope she didn't dump her boyfriend, or insult him, or otherwise send anything outrageous.

Read more about this phenomenon, and comments from doctors some of whom accept that it's real and others who are sceptical, in this article in The Register.
