REAL LIFE NEWS: DARLING, I LOVE YOU - NOW GET 'EM OFF

by Hazed

Is there a bloke alive who doesn't know that telling a girl that you really, really love her is a good way to get her into bed?

Apparently, psychologist Dr Ben Jones from Aberdeen University wasn't too sure about this, so he set out to test it. The result: telling someone you fancy "I really like you" could make him or her find you more attractive. And in more statements from the department of the bleeding obvious, making eye contact and smiling have a similar effect. Well, who'd a thunk it?

His study involved 230 men and women and it found that the social cues which signal how much others fancy you play a crucial role in attraction. The subjects were asked to look at flash cards picturing a face with different expressions - making eye contact or not, smiling or not, and so on. They were then asked to rate how attractive the faces were. The preference for the attractive face was much stronger when people were judging those faces that were looking at them and smiling.

So, if you didn't already know it, if you think somebody likes you then you will be more inclined to find them attractive; and if you want somebody to find you attractive, pretend that you really, really like them!
