FEDPARDY!

Tuesday January 27
by Fancy-Fancy, Technocrat of Toontown

I sent out the call for players for FEDPARDY! as the 10.00pm eastern start time arrived, and as I walked into Studio 1, Squeeky, Munabilo, Jezz, and Tenabutter were all there waiting for me, ready to play tonight's game. I gave a refresher of the rules for those who needed one and made sure all outstanding questions were answered. Then I revealed the night's categories. They were: The A Team, The Titan-ic, Commodities, and Things a Trader Would Know. Squeeky won first selection with the high spin of the wheel (getting the only number), and started with The A Team.

The first half went lickety-split. Ten answers, ten ring-ins, ten responses, ten correct responses in The A Team, The Titan-ic, and Commodities. Munabilo accumulated 11 points in the first half, Jess 7, Squeeky 5, and Tenabutter 1. Tenabutter received the first selection of Double Fedpardy, and started with Things a Trader Would Know for 2. Jezz continued perfection for the players by getting that one, and then found the first of two Daily Doubles in The Titan-ic. She went for a true Daily Double, betting all 9 of her points, and this was her answer:

The walls of this room are made of a clear, crystalline substance, which gives a magnificent view of Saturn and its rings.

She responded, "what is the viewing lounge?", and I accepted that as equivalent to the Viewing Room. Munabilo collected Titan-ic for 8. Jezz beat Munabilo to the buzzer to get Commodities for 8. It was not until the 15th answer of the game that somebody gave an incorrect answer, with Tenabutter and Squeeky both doing so on Titan-ic for 10, putting them both in the hole. Munabilo finally got that one correct, continuing the streak of somebody getting each one. Munabilo then finished off Commodities for 10, and got that one, too. Only the Trader category remained, and Munabilo selected that for 4, rang in, but got it wrong. Jezz beat Tenabutter to the buzzer to grab those points with the other possibility to the answer. Munabilo got Trader for 6, and then found the other Daily Double under Trader for 8. With a 41-30 lead, Munabilo decided to risk 9 on Things a Trader Would Know, and this was its answer:

The command used to exit one of your futures positions in Fed.

Munabilo promptly and correctly responded, "what is liquidate?" to win the 9-point bet. Our last answer on the board was attempted first by Jezz, but incorrectly, and Munabilo then got it right to pick up another 10 points, completing a game where every answer was responded to correctly. And the end of Double Fedpardy, the scores were:

Munabilo: 60
Jezz: 20
Squeeky: -5
Tenabutter: -9

Munabilo and Jezz advanced to Final Fedpardy, with the category of Activities in Sol to help them each decide how much they wanted to wager. When both had registered their wagers, and verified they were ready, I presented tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:

Being Earth's first activities that could be potentially lethal, these two activities require proof of life insurance before one will be allowed to participate.

When 60 seconds were up, we started by checking the response of Jezz, who wrote, "what is bungee jumping and exploring the wilderness?" Those were the correct two activities. Checking her wager, she bet all 20 points she had, doubling it to 40.

Munabilo didn't look too happy as we came to it, and we soon saw why, as its response was, "what are bungee jumping... and skiing...", not the correct two. The outcome then hinged on Munabilo's wager, which was 10 points. That left it with 50, and made Munabilo this week's FEDPARDY! champion. Jezz finished as the runner-up with a very respectable 40 points. Congratulations to both Munabilo and Jezz on tonight's finishes in FEDPARDY! Thanks also to Squeeky and Tenabutter for playing. Come join us again on February 10 at 10.00pm eastern for our next exciting edition of FEDPARDY!
