NEW LEISURE BUILD: LONGEVITY

by Hazed

A new leisure build is now available. Longevity uses nano-tech and bio-tech to create anti-agathic drugs - that means anti-aging - to stave off old age. Sounds great! Who wants to get grey hair and wrinkles? And it can be fantastic for your economy because it give you a whole load of extra workthings - a 100% bonus on your base population.

But there's a drawback. A big one. Longevity is something that everybody craves, and if it's not available to everybody on your planet it breeds resentment and jealousy - which translates into disaffection. So this is not a technology you can keep for the elite. Once you go down the road of providing the drugs, you have to let everyone have them, or you will be faced with riots.

So unlike all other builds, it pays to build all of the required longevity programs at once. You will need one program for every 50 workthings, or part thereof. You won't see any increase in the population until the last one is put in place - and then suddenly you get a 100% bonus. But you will see disaffection in the meantime - an increase in 2% for each missing point. That dis will vanish as soon as you have the full set of longevity builds.

Of course, a sudden doubling of the workforce could bring problems of its own. You will need to make sure you have employment lined up for all your new underlings, otherwise the unemployment will breed dis of its own...

You can get the details from the Idiot's Guide.

This is the final leisure build. There were going to be two more - space fleets and okie cities - but they have now been moved to the next level and will be built by Plutocrats to affect the whole cartel. (A cartel is what used to be called a duchy.)
