NEW VERSION OF TESLA PLANET CHECKER DOES EVEN MORE

by Hazed

There is a new version of the Tesla planet checker for Windows available, with a whole new set of checks in it.

Version 1.10 now loads in message files, as well as map files. It checks there are no problems with the message file, for example that the category and section names are in the correct format - all lower case, with no spaces. It then goes through the map file and looks at all the locations which call a no-exit message, and makes sure that the message actually exists in the message file.

You can download the new version here.

It is important that you run your planet files through Tesla before submitting them. This most definitely applies to new planets, but it's also important when you have made some changes to an existing planet - even the tiniest little change. You never know when an error might creep in! As soon as you email us planet files to go in the game, the first thing I do is run them through Tesla, and if it comes up with any errors I will throw the files right back at you to be fixed.

I am aware that we have an ongoing problem where people with older versions of Windows cannot run the current version of Tesla. I also know that the Mac version is not as up-to-date and doesn't check for as many things. If you can't use the current version of Windows Tesla, please say so in your email.

And don't forget to put Fed2 somewhere in the subject line when you submit your planet files!
