REAL LIFE NEWS: NOSTALGIA AIN'T WHAT IT USED TO BE

There's a fascinating article about the neuroscience of nostalgia here. While all of it is interesting, what I found particularly telling are the paragraphs that explain just why people around my age were so totally appalled by the Star Wars prequel, The Phantom Menace. It explains why our reaction was so extremely negative - because the badness of the new movie tarnished our memories, our nostalgic glow, of the original films.
Read it, it's very interesting, and not too technical.
