REAL LIFE NEWS: YOUTUBE BABY TUTORIAL

by Hazed

The internet might be great for finding out the answers to life's trivial questions, like who was that guy who was in that film about the thing, you know, it also starred the woman who played the heroine in that other film... but you can't necessarily trust stuff you read on the web when it's a matter of life and death. Still, it came in handy for an engineer from Cornwall in south-west England recently - he used YouTube to learn how to deliver a baby!

Admittedly, he watched the instructional videos as a precaution when his wife Jo started to feel some discomfort, and never dreamed he would actually need the information. But four hours later, when she went into labor and started giving birth before an ambulance could arrive, he found himself putting his new knowledge to use. The baby was born without any problems, and the 5lb 5oz boy called Gabriel was then taken with his mother to hospital and given a clean bill of health.

Good for YouTube! Just occasionally, amongst all the cute cat videos, there is something useful. And also, good for human reproduction: most times, women can give birth at home without professional help; it's only when things go wrong that you need hospitals.
