REAL LIFE NEWS: SWINE FLU FEARS BENEFIT KARAOKE BARS

by Hazed

Swine flu is turning out to be good news for bar owners in Japan, because students from schools and colleges that shut down because of fears of the epidemic have been flocking to karaoke clubs to spend their unexpected free time.

More than 4,000 schools, colleges and nurseries were shut temporarily in Hyogo and Osaka prefectures last month, as Japan confirmed more than 170 cases of the disease. One club manager in Osaka told a news agency that, "We suddenly had a number of high school students after 2pm... right after the announcement that schools would close for a week."

This seems like it goes against the reason that the schools were shut down in the first place - to stop the students congregating together in case any of them were infectious. They were told to stay home, but instead they've been heading for the karaoke bars where they are just as likely to pass on their germs! Still, at least the bar owners will be profiting.
