REAL LIFE NEWS: TWEET ME WHEN THE SPACE STATION IS OVERHEAD

by Hazed

I've always felt that Twitter is mostly useless, but just occasionally someone comes up with a useful application of its messaging service - such as the baker that tweets his customers when a new batch of bread comes out of the oven.

Now here's another really neat use of Twitter: a service that will message you whenever the International Space Station is overhead.

Why should you need to know this? Well, because the ISS is actually visible from the ground. It's got nearly an acre of solar panels which are reflective, and that means that when it's overhead, and about 200 miles away, it's sometimes possible to see if. But only if you know when and where to look. Hence this rather cool Twitter service.

Read more about it here.
