HOW TO BE A PLUTOCRAT

Alan is continuing to write the code for the new rank, Plutocrat, and for the cartels that they will operate. As he finishes a chunk of coding, he puts it into the test version of Fed so that the test team can play around with it and find the bugs.

So far, he's coded the promotion to Plutocrat and the setting up of a new cartel with its own workboard. He has also put in the mechanism for other POs to request that they join a cartel, and for the Plutocrat to approve or reject the request. Once we're sure that all these bits are working properly, he'll put the code into the live game, and with any luck that will be in the next few days. Look out for a post on the noticeboard in the game, and detials on the What's New page of the website.

Meanwhile, the promotion requirements have been set so you can start preparing for when the code goes live.

To promote to Plutocrat, you will have to be a Magnate (obviously) and your leisure planet will need to have 335 builds. You will also need to have at least two planets in your system. This is because when your new cartel is set up, the workboard will start generating jobs to go to and from the various planets in the cartel - and if you only have one planet in your system, there won't be anywhere for the jobs to go!

Next, Alan will work on the tools for the Plutocrat to change the settings for the cartel, such as the tax rate, customs rate, etc...
