ALL ABOUT THE FEDTERM INI FILEby HazedIf you use FedTerm as your front-end to access the game, then all the details are stored in a file called an INI file (short for initialisation). This file contains your logon details, your f-keys, and preferences such as the font and color scheme you use. The file is stored on your computer in the same folder as the FedTerm program. Recently, we were trying to help a player who was having problems with f-keys, and in the course of the trouble-shooting we wanted the player to email the INI file to us so we could see how he had set the f-keys up. But that file also contains your password... so it's terrible security to send it to other people! It's not a problem if you send it to me, or to Bella or Freya, because we have access to Fed's database anyway so can check your logon details without seeing your FedTerm INI file. If any of us talk to you in the game and ask you to send us the file, then you don't have to worry - we will only ever do that using our main character names, so you will know who we are. But if anybody else in the game, or out of the game, asked you to send the INI file to them, don't do it! Instead, send an email to feedback@ibgames.com (put Fed2 in the subject line) and tell us about it so we can check out who it was. They may have been trying to be helpful, but they may have been trying to steal your password. |
