FED PHRASE GAME

Tuesday October 13
by Fancy-Fancy, Technocrat of Toontown

Caliban, Cegati, and Xorith joined me in Studio 1 this evening for the Fed Phrase Game. I went over the rules for our new players, and verified there were no lingering questions about how to play, then set the playing order with their spins of the wheel. Caliban got the first slot, Cegati the second, and Xorith the third.

Our first puzzle was a 3 word place (7, 7, and 5 letters), with Caliban up first. He found a pair of S's, a T, and two R's before picking an M not in the puzzle. The turn passed to Cegati, but after waiting a few minutes to see if he was present, we passed his turn and went on to Xorith. The wolf found a pair of L's, bought the A, found two N's and a G, and bought the E's before hitting a Bankrupt. Caliban got the puzzle back and bought the O's, then landed on a Free Spin, but couldn't pick it up with a D. The puzzle went to Cegati again, but he still wasn't back, so we passed his turn again. Xorith found a C for 1000, then tried to solve, but did so incorrectly. Caliban spun 600 and added the correct final letter of the puzzle, a Y, then solved - colony's general store - for 1550 points.

The next puzzle was 4 word living things (6, 2, 5, and 8 letters), with Cegati next in the order to start it. But he still wasn't present, so we ended up passing his turn again, and Xorith started instead. He found two S's for 1000 each, bought the A, then missed with a T. Caliban found two R's before landing on a Lose a Turn space. Cegati still wasn't back, so Xorith took over and found an N, C, F, two H's for 1000 each, bought the E's, placed three L's, an M, bought the I, then found two D's, leaving only vowels. He then solved - Hordes of small children - for 6800 points.

Tonight's third, and as it turned out, final puzzle we had time for, was a 3 word thing (4, 4, and 6 letters), with Caliban up first to start it. He hit 1000 on the wheel, but couldn't capitalize with a T. Cegati was next, but still not around, so we again passed to Xorith, who found an S, but then hit a Bankrupt. Caliban tried a D, only to hear a buzzer. Cegati was still AWOL. Xorith found an N, but no M. Caliban found an L, R, and pair of H's before hitting a Lose a Turn. Cegati still wasn't around, so Xorith spun, and landed on another Lose a Turn. Caliban got the puzzle back and found a G, bought the E's, and then called the last consonant in a C, then solved - huge holo screen - for 2750 points.

That brought us to the end of tonight's game. Taking second place tonight was Caliban with 4300 points. And tonight's big winner was Xorith, with that big 6800 point solve. Congratulations to our winners. Join us for the next edition of the Fed Phrase Game on October 27, starting at 10.00pm eastern. And the next edition of Fedpardy is October 20, also starting at 10.00pm eastern, in Studio 1.
