RULES FOR KILLING PLAYES

by Hazed

The ability to change a player's stats means that POs will now be able to do nice things for players, such as top up their stamina, and nasty things, by taking stamina away. You can take away a little bit of stamina, as a warning that the player has done something foolish, or you can kill the player completely.

Killing a player is a very powerful action that can have serious consequences, so there are some rules you need to follow:

  • You must not have any events that kill players in or near your essential services. Any dangerous things on your planet must be well away from the landing pad, trading exchange, hospital etc.
  • You must put a warning on the entrance to the dangerous area, so players are told they are about to enter an area which has potentially fatal locations.
  • You must check a player's insurance at the entrance to the dangerous area, and if the player is not insured, do not let her proceed.
  • Once in the dangerous area, any location or action which kills the player must have a warning attached - you need to give her a chance to avoid the death if she is paying attention. Look at the death locations in Sol; they all give players a chance to avoid them.
  • You must not ever use death locations as a way to trick players into dying unawares.
  • You must never, ever set up death locations in such a way that there is a chance a player could die dead-dead.

If you break any of these rules, and cause a death on your planet which I consider to be unfair, you will be given one opportunity to change your events. If you don't change them, or if it happens again, then your events will be removed and you won't be allowed to put any more events on your planet.

Remember, the ability to use events on your planet is a privilege, not a right, and if you abuse it you will lose it.
