REAL LIFE NEWS: MAN STICKS PHONE IN EAR

by Hazed

It's a common sight, people with those bluetooth phone thingies stuck into their ears, but you don't expect the word "stuck" to be taken literally.

Attend the tale of Gye Gardner from Northern Territory in Australia. He was in his truck, with his bluetooth receiver in his ear, listening to the radio. The news came on and he heard a story about a Darwin woman who had been pulled over to be breathalyzed while wearing just her undies. Funny story, and Mr Gardner laughed - and in the process, banged his ear onto the boom of his truck, and broke the bluetooth headset.

So he did what any sensible, hands-on, manly kind of guy would do: he did it himself, by gluing the headset back together with superglue.

Just after he'd finished with the gluing, his boss phoned him, so he stuck the headset back into his ear... and that's when the word "stuck" became literal, because after about five minutes, the adhesive had set fast, and the earpiece was well and truly stuck in place.

"Usually it's in my ear all day anyway - friends suggested I just leave it in there and just plug my ear into the powerpoint at night to charge it," said Mr Gardner. But he didn't like that idea. So, once again being a do-it-yourselfer, he got his pocket knife out to remove the unwanted technology from his ear. But then showing a flash of good sense, he decided that wouldn't be a good idea: "I realized I didn't want to see myself going to a doctor to put my ear back on after I chopped it off."

Sensible man. So what did he do?

"So I used a spoon."

That's right, he scraped the earpiece out of his ear using a spoon. However, several pieces of skin were still stuck to the headphones after he'd finished: "Yes, it did hurt - but I guess I did hurt my pride much more than it did hurt my ear."
