REAL LIFE NEWS: THIEVING WILDLIFE

by Hazed

By coincidence, there have been two stories in the news the last few days about animals stealing items of equipment from photographers.

First up, we have a polar bear that stole a tripod. The incident happened in Alaska, when a group was taking photos of three bears. One of the bears began to charge towards the photographers, who very sensibly took refuge in their truck, but continued to snap pictures from the safety of the vehicle. And so they ended up with a picture of one of the bears stealing a tripod.

Read about it, and see a picture of the tripod in the jaws of a polar bear, here.

Then something even more amazing: an octopus that stole a diver's camera, and then went for a ride on his speargun. What makes this incredible is that the video camera kept on running the whole time.

The diver came upon the octopus unexpectedly, and it lunged and grabbed hold of his camera, wrapping its tentacles around it and then swimming away. He gave chase and caught up with the sea creature, and used his speargun to lever the tentacles away from the camera and retrieve it. But now the octopus was wrapped around the speargun!

Read what happened, and watch the video from the stolen camera, here.
