REAL LIFE NEWS: BREAKOUT FROM CHINESE INTERNET ADDICTION CAMP

by Hazed

Internet addiction is apparently a big problem in China, so treatment centers have popped up all over the country. Up to 24 million Chinese youths are reported to suffer from being addicted to the net and they are often sent to rehab by their concerned parents.

But in a rebellion against the harsh regimes of these addiction boot camps, 14 teenagers broke out last week. They overpowered their teacher and tied him to a bed with a quilt, and then flagged down a pair of passing taxis to help them escape from the net prison. Unfortunately, when the drivers found out the youths didn't have the money to pay their fares, they drove them to the nearest police station.

Police contacted the parents, all of whom told them to take their errant offspring straight back to rehab!

You can see why they wanted to escape. An official at one of the camps reported, "We have to use military-style methods such as total immersion and physical training on these young people. We need to teach them some discipline and help them to establish a regular lifestyle." So the inmates wear army-style camo uniforms, have bedtime set at 9.30pm sharp, are got up at 5.00am, have to suffer two hours of physical training...

The escapees described the regime as being "boring and exhausting" and on top of all this, they complained that the food was bad.

And, of course, they have no internet access. The horrors!
