FEDPARDY!

Tuesday, July 13
by Fancy-Fancy, Gengineer of Toontown

Four players came to Studio 1 to play tonight's game of FEDPARDY!Merepoule, Sjw, Gizmo, and Jfour all came to play, while Occy watched the goings on over the channel.I went over the rules for Sjw and anyone else who needed a refresher on them, then I presented the night's categories, which were: Announcements; Apple "Pi"; Hauling, hauling, hauling...; and 'Mercury, Wings on Thy Feet!'.Spinning the studio wheel for first selection, Sjw won that honor, and started the game with Mercury for 1.

Merepoule rang in first to get that point, then shifted to the Apple "Pi" category for 1.No one tried the 1-point answer, but the players got the rest of them, with Gizmo capturing the 2 after Sjw missed on it, and Merepoule taking the 3, 4, and 5 point answers consecutively. With that category done, she went back to Mercury for 2, but no one attempted to respond to that answer. She then started the Hauling category for 1.Merepoule was quickest to the buzzer to ring in and give the correct question to that answer.Gizmo proceeded to get the 2 and 3 point answers to finish up the first half.At the break, Merepoule led with 14 points, to 7 for Gizmo, and -2 for Sjw.

Sjw got first selection for Double Fedpardy, with the point values of all remaining answers doubled, but had connection troubles, and finally through channels let me know I should proceed without him if necessary. So I gave the first selection of Double Fedpardy to Jfour instead. He started the Announcements category to start Double Fedpardy. The first one, for 2, got passed by all, but Gizmo picked up the 4, perhaps with the aid of "I wonder how many it takes to change it" in the clue.Gizmo then selected Hauling for 8, but responded incorrectly to that answer, losing 8 points. And nobody attempted the 10 pointer to finish the category.Gizmo then selected the Mercury category for 6.Jfour tried that one, but got it wrong, losing 6 points. The players passed on trying the 8 pointer, and then Gizmo found the first of two Daily Doubles under the 10-point answer. With a "go for gold or go home I say lets risk 10," Gizmo decided to risk the maximum on the Daily Double, and this was his answer:

Imagine a weapon, and this ex-space marine has it on sale.No truth to the rumor she has a relative named Davy.

After about a half minute of thinking, Gizmo responded, "who is crockett?" - the correct response, pulling him within a point of Merepoule.Jfour commented that Merepoule was screaming that she knew that one, and Merepoule chimed in with,"King of the Wild Frontier".That left the Announcements category, and Gizmo decided to work that in descending point order, starting with the 10.Nobody tried the 10-pointer, but Jfour took a stab at the 8, and came close, but didn't quite get it.The final answer on the board was the other Daily Double, and it belonged to Gizmo. He decided to risk 2 points, looking for the lead going into Final Fedpardy, and this was his answer:

On Rhea, the tannoy goes bing-bong and a crazed voice says it wants these, before it gets abruptly cut off.

It didn't take Gizmo too long to respond with, "What are brains?" to get it right and take the lead heading into Final Fedpardy. At the end of Double Fedpardy the scores were:

Gizmo: 15
Merepoule: 14
Sjw: -2
Jfour: -14

Gizmo and Merepoule advanced to Final Fedpardy, with the chance to wager as many of their points as they desired based on the category of Freedom and Independence.Gizmo and Merepoule placed their wagers that they would give the correct question, and Jfour placed his wager on Merepoule. When our Finalists verified they were both ready, I revealed tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:

This organization, once borderline illegal, has become almost respectable in recent years, and campaigns for Venusian Independence.Rumors abound that some of its members will do anything to advance their cause.

After 60 seconds, we then took a look at how they responded and wagered.Merepoule's response was, "What is People's Rebellion?"But that was incorrect.Merepoule wagered 3 points, leaving her with 11.

That left Gizmo. He responded, "who are the venus freedom party?"And that was right!Gizmo bet all 15 of his points, doubling his score to 30, and captured this week's FEDPARDY! championship!Congratulations to Gizmo on tonight's victory. And to Merepoule on making Final Fedpardy and being runner-up.And thanks to Jfour and Sjw who played, and Occy who tuned in to watch the show.Join us again July 27, starting at 10.00pm eastern time. We'll also be holding the Fed Phrase Game on July 20, same time, same place.Join us for Tuesday night game show fun.
