REAL LIFE NEWS: TOY ROBOT MENACES DENVER, IS DESTROYED BY POLICE

by Hazed

An eight-inch tall toy robot caused chaos in Denver this week, as traffic was diverted to avoid it, and police entered a tense stand-off that lasted for hours.

What was it - some kind of miniature robot killer with deadly weapons that was threatening life in the city?

No, it was just a toy robot. Somebody had cemented it to the base of a pillar that supported a footbridge. A concerned citizen had contact police, worried about the small white plastic toy, so the city's finest swung into action, setting up a 100 yard cordon around the deadly droid.

Traffic piled up at intersections around the threat zone as rush hour commuters were forced to detour. Some pedestrians, who were unable to reach vehicles they had left parked within reach of the robot's vicious weaponry decided to wait out the siege in a nearby bar - very sensible. They asked police to inform them when it was safe to venture out again.

Matters came to a head when the bomb squad arrived, tooled up to deal with the robotic menace. They couldn't be sure if the toy was a threat or not, so they blew it up. It exploded into several chunks, and was thus rendered safe. The citizens of Denver could relax again.

Police have no idea who put the robot there, or why.

You can see a picture of this horrible attack droid here. It doesn't look all that threatening, really - in fact, it's quite cute!
