REAL LIFE NEWS: FIREWORKS STASH BLOWS UP HOUSE

by Hazed

There's something very enjoyable about reading stories depicting stupid people doing idiotic things and suffering for it. Here's a great example. A man from Allegan County in Michigan is in big trouble, being left homeless and facing legal action, after a fire in his house set off a stash of illegal fireworks. The result was an explosion that blew up the house, rattled windows in the area, and shocked neighbors.

Mike Winger was concerned that a pipe was freezing in his basement, so he did what any idiot would do: he used a blow torch to heat it up. Not noticing that some insulation in the wall had caught fire, he went off to work. While he was away, the flames spread to his stash of illegal fireworks. The result: house go boom!

Large plumes of white smoke could be seen for miles as flames shot out of the house. Neighbors a mile away said they felt their houses shake in the explosion. The house was severely damaged in the fire, which also killed Winger's dog.

The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have been called in, and police have handed a report to the county prosecutor, who will decide on charges.
