REAL LIFE NEWS: DUMB CRIMINAL OF THE YEAR

by Hazed

Oh joy, my favorite kind of news story: that of a dumb criminal who is brought down by his own idiocy. This one really does seem to be aiming for the title of dumbest criminal ever!

Rodney Knight Jr, a 19-year-old, broke into the house of Washington Post journalist Marc Fisher and made off with cash, a winter coat and a laptop computer belonging to the journos teenage son.

So proud was he of his theft, he used the laptop to log onto Facebook and post about his achievement. As Fisher reported, "He felt compelled to showboat about his big achievement: He opened my son's computer, took a photo of himself sneering as he pointed to the cash lifted from my son's desk, and then went on my son's Facebook account and posted the picture for 400 teenagers to see. In the picture, the man is wearing my new winter coat, the one that was stolen right out of the Macy's box it had just arrived in."

Knight was arrested in a Washington alleyway in early January, and taken to court where he pleaded guilty to a burglary charge and another of carrying a pistol without a license - he'd had the gun on him when arrested. He'll be sentenced in May, but meanwhile he really can be included in the top ranks of dumb criminals.

You can see the picture that poor dumb Rodney posted on Facebook here where you will also find links to previous dumb criminal stories, which are almost - but not quite - as stupid as this one.
