FEDPARDY

March 8
by Fancy-Fancy, Gengineer of Toontown

I got 4 players for tonight's edition of FEDPARDY! Squeeky arrived first, followed by Lester, then Dagny and Amalfi. As everyone claimed to be familiar with how to play, we dove right in, starting with the categories, which were: Asteroids; Number, please; I-Spy; and Wall Treatments. Spinning the wheel in the studio for the chance to select first, Lester got that honor. He then started the game by selecting Wall Treatments for 1.

Nobody tried to respond to that first answer, so Lester selected the 2 pointer in the category. He also rang in on it, but responded with the wrong name, losing 2 points. Lester tried changing categories to I-Spy, and Squeeky rang in and gave the correct question, the first of two correct responses the entire game, for the first positive point of the night. Lester followed with the other correct response of the game on the 2-pointer in the I-Spy category to get back to even. Lester and Amalfi rang in on the 3-pointer, Amalfi apparently by accident, and both missed it to lose 3 points each. The 4-pointer was passed. The 5-pointer saw Squeeky try for it, then Lester, neither one giving the correct response. With I-Spy finished, Lester started on the "Number, please" category for 1. Lester gave an incorrect response to the 1-pointer, and nobody rang in on the 2 and 3 pointers, taking us to the break. Amalfi had -3, Squeeky -4, and Lester -9 at that point. Dagny hadn't even tried to ring in, and with 0 points, actually held the highest score.

Lester, trailing everyone else, got first selection in Double Fedpardy, with all remaining point values doubled. Lester started Double Fedpardy with Asteroids for 2. Everyone passed on trying to respond to it. Ditto the 10-pointer afterwards. Shifting gears to "Number, please" for 10, Lester tried that one, but got it incorrect. The same occurred with Asteroids for 8. Lester then found the first of two Daily Doubles in Wall Treatments. Deciding to risk the maxiumum allowed, Lester risked 10 points, and this was his answer:

Real wood panels have been imported from Earth to line the walls of this place, and the room is dotted with marble statues of classical figures

Lester tried, "What is the Mansion?", but that description comes from Hotel Magnifico on the moon. Lester finished up Wall Treatments for 6, and answered incorrectly on it. He found the other Daily Double in Asteroids for 6, again wagered the maximum 10, and this was his answer:

A fierce-looking woman with a clipboard asks you what business you have visiting, and when you cannot give a satisfactory answer, she gestures you towards the door back to reception, in a very peremptory manner.

Lester responded, "What is The Anti-Mayor Sith Lord?" But that wasn't correct, and he lost yet more points. That left the final answer on the board, Asteroids for 4. Lester attempted to respond to that, too, and again missed. Everyone else passed on trying it, and that brought us to the end of Double Fedpardy. Amalfi still had -3, Squeeky still had -4, but Lester now had -67. Dagny still outscored them all with 0, never even ringing in the entire game. But even counting her would not have gotten anyone into Final Fedpardy tonight. Join us again March 22 at 10.00pm eastern for our next edition of FEDPARDY! And join us March 15, same 10.00pm eastern, same Studio 1, for the Fed Phrase Game.
