REAL LIFE NEWS: CAN CHOCOLATE PREVENT SUNBURN?

by Hazed

Now here's a study I would love to take part in! Researchers want to test whether dark chocolate can prevent sunburn. No, not smearing it all over yourself to use as a sunblock, but eating it.

The study is being conducted at Laval University in Quebec City, Canada. Scientists say that dark chocolate contains chemicals that provoke blood flow close to the skin, which helps protect against ultraviolet light. So they are looking for volunteers willing to eat a small amount of chocolate every day.

The participants should be female, with fair skin, between 25 and 65. Check, check, and check. Sign me up now.

The volunteers will be exposed to sunlamps and tested against a control group who won't get to eat the chocolate, the poor things.

All joking apart, as somebody who suffers from sunburn even in the wimpy English sunshine, I will be fascinated to see the outcome of this study.
