REAL LIFE NEWS: THE CRIMINAL LEGGED IT

by Hazed

I love dumb criminal stories, as regular readers will know, but I also love writing about idiotic actions by security staff or police forces that allow criminals to get the better of them.

Here's a brilliant example of the latter.

Two members of staff from security firm G4S in the UK have been sacked after they put a security tag onto a man's false leg. This allowed him to remove the leg and break a court-imposed curfew.

Christopher Lowcock was conviced of offences involving drugs, driving and a weapon and was the subject of a curfew. But the clever criminal wrapped his prosthetic limb in a bandage and when the pair showed up at his home to fit him with the tag, he presented them with the false leg. They didn't notice the difference, and fitted the tag to the wrong leg. He was then able to take off the false leg - complete with the tag - and go out and about as he pleased.

Whoops!
