REAL LIFE NEWS: VIOLENT DOUGHNUT RING SMASHED

by Hazed

A few issues ago I told you how Italian police had busted a gang on gladiator-impersonators who were beating up their rivals (see http://www.ibgames.net/fednews/110814/official10.html).

Now it's the turn of the Greek police force, who have broken up a ring of criminals that had cornered the doughnut market in a beach resort.

Yes, the headline writer's dream: a doughnut ring!

The crooks were operating on the Halkidiki peninsula near Thessalonika, on the Paliouri beach. Their activities came to the attention of the law when they received complaints that two Bulgarian men and a former Greek wrestling champion were using violence to chase off other doughnut vendors.

So an undercover officer posed as a doughnut seller, and sure enough, he was attacked. The three aggressive doughnut criminals were promptly arrested, and have been charged with blackmail and fraud.

They were also charged with food safety violations after police discovered that they were in the habit of stashing their doughnuts in an abandoned hotel that was open to the elements, and was used by bathers as a toilet. Ewwww!
